Technical problems ironed out

I have had a few technical problems which stop me from being here but now I back and I'm please to say I fix them myself. Its good to nut some things out yourself and hope I will remember what I did if it happens again.

Now that I back we need a bit of a catch up.

First I'm a bit excited, as I'm off to Tazzie for a weekend retreat that Fee has organised and I get to stay with a gorgeous friend Jo and her beautiful boys. I havent left my whole family for awhile so it will be a bit strange but I'm sure we will be very busy and the time will fly way to fast.

50th Birthday present

My brother-in-law turned 50 at the end of October and I thought a quilt would be nice. This is made out of hometown by Sweetwater. and the pattern is Pandora's Box. It is a size of a single bed. It laying across a queen bed their.
I gave it to him at Christmas time. Little late.

Biscuits

This is a recipe I got off Chookyblue some time ago. I have used it often. It makes such a big batch and you can freeze it.

Choc Chip Cookies (or smarties)

500gms butter
1 cup caster sugar
1 egg
1 tin sweeten condescend milk
I pkt choc chips/smarties
5 cups S R four

Mix them all together and spoon onto tray. Cook for appox 10 mins.

Very easy and make lots. I made 11 dozen in this batch. I have frozen them to take to the river when we go in a couple of weeks

Teachers Quilts

These are the quilts I made for my girls teachers. They have had a lovely year and the school, teachers and all the children have made that possible. Last year my girls move to a new school which isn't easy when they are in higher grades. They had to start from scratch with getting to know new people and find new friends. I think they have grown from that. They have met some lovely new friends and still trying to keep in contact with there other friends from their previous school.

Bit of a catch up

My girl is growing up so fast. Miss Angel has graduated from year 6 and now ready to take the big step into year 7 (High School) and a new school. She is so looking forward to it.

She had a graduation party to celebrate with her friends and class mates. A gorgeous photographer took so beautiful photos before the night.

On the 20th day I received this gorgeous scarf. It will come in very handy.

Also this great little calendar with magnet on the back.

And this great diary. I normally get one of these myself, but this year I hadn't got one yet. Love it.

And this grouse pillow you can have on you lap or you can sit on it.

It has great little pockets on both sides.

Well this is my stitching around the block all finished. I have had it for awhile and it got lost with all my unfinished things to do.

A very belated post of my birthday.

I had a wonderful day in Melbourne with some gorgeous girls at the craft fair. I headed off after putting my girls on the school bus. I headed off to Bendigo to catch the train bound for Melbourne. Just made it in time. This is a beautiful handmade gift I received from Jo. I just love handmade gifts. They have had so much thought put into them. The stitching is just so tiny. THANKS so much Jo.

This is one for the girls made out of sunkissed by sweetwater. Another beautiful range produce by them. It is such fresh colour and beautiful for a new born baby.

This is made out of charm squares with a1" cut of cream sashing in between each charm square.

I have spots on the back of this one that is also from the same range and a nice pink boarder and binding.

This is what I'm up to.

This is Sunkissed by Sweetwater charm squares. I have just started to lay them out on the quilt wall to see how they look. Love these colours. I have put 1"cut strips in-between every square. Love the way it looks.

Mum got me this little quilt board awhile ago and never new where I wanted to put it. Its looking great in my new quilting room. Just the right size for baby quilts.

Hope to quilt it soon. I have so many quilt tops to get done. Had better line them up and finish them all off.

This was just after the last milking last Friday. The cow all sorted and left on the truck to a friends place for her to milk.

So all washed down and lots of work to be done.

While waiting for the truck we started to pull part of the shed down. About a hour later this is what it looked like.

The on the Saturday the brother in law came to give us a hand. Didnt take no time at all then. It was gone. Now we are rebuilding it. Its looking so good and it will be so much better (I hope).

A neighbour of mine has had his tractor stolen last Wednesday night (6th April) from his paddock. The offenders cut two wire fences at the property and drove it away then loaded it on a truck. We live in the Echuca, Victoria, Australia area. Its a 6420 John Deere with a front-end loader. Registration number 52406F. Its the fourth one in the area taken.

Anyone with any information call the Echuca police on 0354 822 255 It could be anywhere in Australia now.

.............Where have I been????........

The girls are back at school, but they have started at a new school this year and they are loving it. Made some lovely new friends and getting to know the place now. Im so please the transition has gone so well.

I have been doing a bit of sewing. The quilt above is a baby cot quilt size. The fabric is "Pure" by Sweetwater. My sister has been selling these in her shop. They are so nice and quick to make. Hope to get some more sewing done today.

Holidays nearly over here in Victoria. Its nice to spend some time with my wonderful family and great friends. It was very relaxing and my girls had so much fun.

They did a spot of fishing, knee boarding and lots of swimming.

This was the girls camp beside our camper trailer

So all the girls loved this spot. They all got there swags for christmas. They look so good dont they?

We still had to milk twice a day, but it was good to look forward to coming back here after each milking. Hope to do it again soon.

Quilt for a lovely lady

I have been cutting out this quilt once again. This is for my Aunty whose house was flooded in the Rochester last week. The water was knee deep through her house. Lots to clean up and start all over again. So much to do but she will get there.

The water has start to go down in Quambatook now with not to much damage to the township. My thoughts were with everyone living there now and glad they are OK

Hitting Home town

Floods are hitting the home town I grew up in (Quambatook). My Mum still lives there at the moment. Here are some of the pictures . They had 7&1/2 inches of rain on Monday and the water flowing through from Charlton, down the Avoca River hasnt hit the town yet. Just starting to

They have been setting up levee banks on the middle on the road to keep the water away from the houses. Hope they dont blow out.

Floods not good

I feel sad and lost for words seeing the town (Charlton) I live for a lot of years under water. I still have family and friends there. You feel so helpless.

Talking to my Aunty last night and the had 18" in there shed. One room under water and and it hadn't peek yet. The town is on the Avoca River but she live a long way away from it, so there would be a lot more under before her.

Hope they are OK

edit: They have been evacuated. The Avoca goes through the town and they live on the high side and on the out skirts and they are flooded. So the rest of they town must be under even more. Worse than when it hit late last year.

The backing was in Rounneries by French General.

She was so excited when she felt it through the paper before she opened it. She loved it along with everyone else. Im so please and hopes she get lots of use out of it.

Yes, a start of another quilt

Im starting another quilt for a gift. My girlfriend is turning 50 this weekend so I decided to make her a quilt. Its all cut out

Its out of a jelly roll book and the pattern is "Floral Bougue"

The fabric range is Martinique by 3 sisters

I like the colour range on this jelly roll and hope it goes well with this pattern.

Now I have to have it all sewn together and quilted by Saturday. If i have no interruptions it should be achievable. Fingers crossed

I have also join another group called Sew its finished , to try and get some of my UFO complete. If I have them listed, I will have to o them. Now to get them all listed. I think it might take more than 12 months but see how I go.

Renovations

This is my new quilting studio (sounds good). I have been thinking of this for a while and now doing something about it. This is what has been taking up my time before Christmas and didn't have time to play on the computer ( i will have to catch up on what everyone has been up to soon).

The curtains will have to wait until I get to spotlight one day when the girls go back to school.

Oh and there is no power in this room yet either. That's why there is a broken globe. That is to happen too.

It has potential. Think it will come up OK for me anyway

I will start off with Christmas day. Well it was my MIL's 80th birthday on Christmas day. We had all the family there, which was nice for her. A lovely lunch made by all of the family. After lunch there was a surprise for the MIL. BIL friend has a helicopter. So what would you like to tick off the list before you turn 80. Yes a helicopter ride. She had no idea this was to happen (probably better not knowing). It arrived just after lunch and wasnt hard to talk her into it. And so up she went.

Twice in one year

After the AQM some friends and I flew off to Darwin for a few night. As usual it was fantastic. My favourite place. It is so unpredictable. Beautiful HOT days with little bits of storms coming through every now and again.

This is the view from our room that we had to wake up to every morning. 14 of us had a wonderful time and looking forward to do it again.

The sunsets were just amazing.

We went out on a catamaran one night for tea. It looked like a storm brewing when we first went out, but it just went around us. We had all sort of fish for tea our boys had caught the day before.

It was so relaxing out there for four hours.

This is the life.

While I was there I caught up with a very busy girl Bianca. It was so good to see her and her beautiful children. We had time for a quick lunch, cuppa and chat. Never long enough thou. Thanks Bianca for taking some time out to catch up when I know you have a lot to do before your market day.

I did mange to get this one when I went to the AQM.

Engagement

I have another quilt finished. This is one I made for an engagement party we went to on the weekend of a beautiful couple to be married next year. This is made out of French General and the pattern is in the jelly roll book for the Victorian Decedent. I was inspired by Rhonda. She had made this and I fell in love with it and thought it would be a great one to do for this occasion.

Simply stunning pattern for these colours. Hope they liked it.

I have been to the ZOO

On Friday we braved the cold and rain and went down to Melbourne to the Zoo with the junior department of our school. We set off from school at 7am in the drizzling rain with the hope that it would stop, but it didnt. The highlight of the day was the baby elephants that are so cute. There are two of them and their mums were giving them a bath. We didnt have to line up to see them at all, as not to many other people where there

We all had umbrella's and ponchos on to keep the wind and rain out. I think we need gum boots too but a nice hot bath when we got home was wonderful.

It was still a great day. And the children all had a great time

Knitting

I have been doing a bit of knitting. This is a babies blanket. All plain knitting and then with a crochet edge. Very nice pattern

I have been playing with some "Blush" charm square. Some fun pinwheels. They are so quick and fun to make. I have made 2 baby quilts with one pack with also some white homespun too. Then bordered with a spot from the "Blush" range.

Friends in Stitching have had a Block of the Month and I have finally caught up.

These are all my BOM together. Not sure how they look. I though I would put some brown strips in between and then chenille for the border

Off the Barham today. The girls have got a tennis camp for the week so I will have to take the sewing machine and hope to get something done. Have got a few projects to do and some I need to finish. See how I go

This is the last block completed. So excited to have got it done so quick. I start this when I got home from holidays at the end of May. Dont know how Chooky talked me into it but thank you Chooky I have enjoy making this one.

Now to my Stitch a long friends. Thanks for the encouragement along the way. It has kept me going to the finish. I know I have to sew it all together but hopefully today and then I can show you my quilt top tomorrow

The colour hasnt come out to well on the block. It is Lime green and choc brown. This is block 6 and now four to go.

Friends in Stitching are having a paper bag swap and this is what I received from Chookyblue. Now what can I make out of two fat quarters and two lots of trim. There was a violet crumble but that disappeared(oops).

I have the block I finished in the Gardeners Journal. They are starting to come together. Im still really enjoying these colours in them. The fabric is Faded Memories that I have had for awhile.

Its great to be catch up a bit on the sewing front. I have had a bit on lately and nice to be back sewing again.

Weeding the garden/Veggie patch

D day is next week to have this block finished and I have finally got one done on time(or before) the time up. I still have lots of other thing not complete yet but Im working on them.

My veggie patch that I would love to have one day when time permits. I love been self sufficient. I make my own bread, yogurt, ice cream, and have our fresh milk and eggs and meat every day, just need a veggie patch (one day)

I dont get much time to do this either but when I do I love it. Its so wet here at the moment but Im not complaining. The rain is beautiful. Its nice to see it can rain still.

I need to take some time to smell the roses. I have got another block finished in between running the girls to all the sports and things on weekends. I thought once they got to school I would have so much time on my hands but that is so wrong.

I have enjoyed spending the time with them though.

I have borders

Gardeners Journal Block a has borders and is complete. Its nice to have one finished. This is very different colours to the other two I have made, but I think I'm liking the shades of fabric. They are from the "faded memories" range that came out years ago and the first stash I brought. Hoping I can find something for the outside borders of the quilt.
